Cassens Fine Art occupies a space rooted in Hamilton’s past and
shaped by years of creative work and community connection.
Cassens Fine Art is housed in one of Hamilton’s most storied buildings. The McGrath Block is a two-story revival structure built in 1909 by early Hamilton physician George McGrath. Designed by architect A.J. Gibson, the building has long been a cornerstone of Main Street, originally home to doctors, dentists, and even the headquarters of U.S. Senator Henry Myers. Over the years, it has been occupied by a variety of businesses, including clothing stores, bookstores, grocers, and more, yet it has retained its original character, with the embossed tin ceiling serving as a reminder of its rich history.

The gallery was originally founded in 1993 by Montana painter Robert Neaves under the name Art Focus, with a mission to showcase Western art and local talent. Michelle took ownership in 2019, bringing with her a renewed energy and a clear vision for the future. In 2022, she rebranded the gallery as Cassens Fine Art.
When Art Focus became Cassens Fine Art, Michelle committed to a gallery space that reflected both the gallery’s long-standing mission and its future. Though the branding evolved, our commitment remained the same. For over 30 years, this gallery has been a home for artists and collectors alike, and through every transition, we have remained dedicated to the integrity of the work we showcase, the relationships we build, and the history we uphold.
