Cassens Fine Art presents its Second Annual Artist’s Retreat Exhibition, showcasing the creative works produced during a one-of-a-kind retreat in East Glacier, Montana. The exhibition celebrates artistic camaraderie and the beauty of the natural world, offering viewers a unique glimpse into the creative process and scenes otherwise unnoticed.

Cassens Fine Art is proud to announce the opening of the Second Annual Artist’s Retreat Exhibition, featuring a curated collection of artwork created during the gallery’s second annual artist retreat hosted on a ranch in East Glacier. The exhibition will open on October 4th, 2024, and run throughout the month, offering art collectors and art enthusiasts alike the opportunity to experience an immersive collection of plein air landscapes and figurative works.

The Cassens Fine Art Artist’s Retreat has quickly become a highly anticipated event for both artists and collectors alike. The retreat offers artists a rare opportunity to connect with nature, fellow painters, and their craft in an unstructured, pressure-free environment. This year’s exhibition highlights the retreat’s spirit of artistic freedom, showcasing works inspired by the rugged beauty of East Glacier, both inside and outside Glacier National Park.

Gallery owner, framer, curator, and visionary behind the retreat, Michelle Cassens, shared her vision behind the retreat: “I wanted to create a space where artists can simply be artists—free from the pressures of sales, deadlines, or galleries. The retreat allows them to immerse themselves in nature and each other’s company, leading to truly inspired work that reflects their unique perspectives.”

Viewers of the exhibition will experience a wide range of artistic styles, with works from:

  • Richie Carter, who captured an awe-inspiring moonrise resulting in his painting Mad Wolf Moonrise, so stunning it is already claimed by a lucky collector but it will be on display.

  • Jordan Walker, presenting his first-ever series of paintings of Glacier National Park, capturing its raw and untamed beauty.

  • Turner Vinson, whose bold use of impasto and new experimental techniques brings a dynamic energy to his work.

  • Joe Guerra, professionally showcasing his first gouache works, offering a fresh take on his artistic style.

  • Nate Closson, who spent much of his time painting horses on the ranch, capturing the essence of rural Montana.

  • Tyler Murphy, with his quiet and philosophical approach to painting on full display, captures scenes that take a step beyond with infusions of the emotions that the viewer might feel while placed in that environment.

  • Jake Gaedtke, whose mastery in depicting ponds and bodies of water is evident in this year's collection, with an intimacy signature to his work.

  • Ken Yarus, known for his exquisite paintings depicting scenes inside Glacier National Park, will present pieces that are both unexpected and striking.

The exhibition is a testament to the power of collaboration and the unique way artists can interpret and express their surroundings to pull our attention towards something we may have missed otherwise. Each piece is a testament to the way artists see things that most of us might overlook, saying with each brushstroke, “But look what you’re missing over here,” reiterating why art is important.
