Cassens Fine Art Presents: “Up North”

“Up North,” is an exhibition bringing boyhood dreamscapes to life by Western artist, Jeff Weir. This show is a unique opportunity to not only experience his sought-after paintings, but, for the first time ever, his highly anticipated bronzes.

Cassens Fine Art is honored to present “Up North,” an exhibition that brings Jeff Weir’s boyhood dreamscapes to life. With Cassens Fine Art being one of the only galleries in the nation to display Weir’s work, this show offers a rare chance to experience not only his vibrant paintings but, for the very first time, view his captivating bronzes. The exhibition will run through the month of September, with an opening reception on September 6th from 5-7 pm at Cassens Fine Art in Hamilton, Montana.

Weir, a local artist from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, has dedicated his life to capturing the essence of North Idaho's wildlife and figures through his vibrant oil paintings. Growing up amidst the natural beauty of North Idaho, Weir's love for the outdoors was kindled through childhood adventures, building treehouses, and crafting bows and arrows. It wasn't until high school that Weir discovered his true calling: channeling his creativity into art.

After graduating, Weir balanced his days working in the woods with a saw and his evenings immersed in the world of oil painting. Winter became his sanctuary, a season dedicated solely to honing his craft. Although Weir cherished the freedom of tree work, his passion for painting ultimately led him to pursue art full-time.

As a self-taught artist, Weir draws immense inspiration from his grandmother. Her legacy of art supplies, journals on color mixing, and her fervent love for oils and color deeply influenced his artistic journey. His commitment to bringing vitality and emotion to each piece is evident in his loose strokes and bold use of color. Weir's work transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary, offering a fresh perspective on subjects that might otherwise appear stoic and serious.

This latest exhibition at Cassens Fine Art is a testament to Weir’s unique perspective and talent.
