"From the Rockies to the Red Rock" centers on the raw forces that shape the Western landscape. Through firsthand observation and geological insight, Walker captures the quiet intensity of a landscape in flux. in this month's show, Walker builds a connection between us and the ever-changing land.
HAMILTON, Mont.— Cassens Fine Art is proud to present “From the Rockies to the Red Rock,” a solo exhibition by Jordan K. Walker. Opening with an artist reception on Friday, May 2, from 5-7 p.m., the exhibition will be on view throughout the month. Walker’s work records the forces that shape the Western landscape: water cutting into canyons, wind sculpting the desert, glaciers carving through mountains. His paintings hold the weight of geological time, revealing the land in motion.
Walker’s field studies take him deep into the wilderness, where he sketches and paints on location, tracking the way light fractures across sheer cliffs and how rivers carve through stone. "Jordan’s paintings have an authority to them because they come from direct experience," says Michelle Cassens, owner and curator of Cassens Fine Art. "His work carries the accuracy of someone who has touched the rock, felt the wind, and seen the water move through the land. You can’t fake that."
The exhibition includes standout pieces such as Glacial Falls, a painting of Logan Pass where meltwater spills from cliffs, tracing its origins back to ancient glaciers. Sandstone Skyscrapers captures the towering rock formations of the Southwest, shaped by wind and erosion over millennia. In Contemplating Eternity, a full moon rises over Monument Valley, illuminating the inscriptions of time in the canyon walls. Each painting portrays the landscape as a living, ever-changing force.
"Jordan doesn’t just depict the West; he engages with it on a deeper level," Cassens adds. "His ability to translate the language of geology, weather, and time into paint aligns perfectly with our mission to present work that challenges and inspires."
